Dear friends and neighbors,
I am running for U.S. Congress because the people of Southwest Pennsylvania deserve change. As a businesswoman and former teacher, I can no longer sit idly by as we are repeatedly disregarded by those we elected to represent us.
I am running to provide real leadership to propel our region and our nation forward. I am running for Congress because we deserve better and we can do better.
- We need a government that is competent and accountable, not above the law.
- We need a government that spends within its means, and not exceeds it.
- We need a government that bolsters the economy for the middle class, not the extremely wealthy.
- We need a government that creates jobs, not sends them overseas.
- We need a government that encourages energy independence, not maintains the status quo.
- We need a government that supports teachers and schools, not punishes them.
- We need a government that promotes cleaner water and air, not deny global warming trends.
- We need a government that inspires innovation, not promotes fear.
- We need a government that is a partner, not an adversary.
We are currently facing many challenges. We have limited options in Iraq. The cost of energy, health care and education are rising. Our military and Veterans are not being cared for properly. There are an unprecedented number of home foreclosures. But none of these challenges are insurmountable. We can achieve greatness once again - but only if we change the way things are done in Washington.
Together we can accomplish a responsible withdrawal from Iraq and energy independence. Together we can have quality health care and education that are affordable and accessible. Together we can fulfill our promises to our military and veterans. Together we can ensure that predatory lending is prevented. Together we can foster America's greatness once again.
I hope you will join us in our efforts to take back our destiny, by taking back Washington. I hope you will get involved in this campaign for change. I hope you will send me to Congress, where I will lead the fight for change.
